Adventure to Googong is a solo album about a bush walk that myself and two friends went on, on the last day of November in 2020. We walked from my parents’ place in Chisholm to the Tuggeranong Train Tracks, then jumped what was probably a barbed wire fence into the wild bushland with one goal in mind – we would keep walking until we arrived at Googong.
It is a significant memory with my two friends – any five-and-a-half hour walk with deep conversation will strengthen a friendship. In my album, I’ve decided to write about some of that experience in both lyrical and instrumental songs.
Since the walk to Googong 4 years ago, I’ve had dozens of recurring dreams about it. I could never feel at peace until I documented the experience in music. I had so many musical ideas result because of it.
Adventure to Googong was the album I wanted to record 4 years ago – but couldn’t – because I still needed to finish recording Pondering. But once that was finished, I was able to pour my creative energy into ATG. The album is about 35 minutes long, composed of 10 tracks.
